Safety Net Solutions

We are hosting Gaprie Ltd in March this year at our Clayton offices as they deliver their two day FASET (Fall Arrest Safety Equipment Training) qualification training and a one day Safety Net Inspectors Course.

Gaprie provides a variety of products including:

  • Fall arrest safety nets

  • Authorised provider of safety net training for those wishing to install, inspect and maintain safety nets.

  • Elenet pallet rack containments systems for warehouses

  • P.C. Net pallet raps for an environmentally friendly alternative to single use stretch wrap

So what are these products?

Fall Arrest Safety Nets

Fall Arrest Safety Nets (Safety Nets) are an alternative safety device to protect employees from falls and reduce the risk of falling debris and tools.  The netting systems are installed by a trained installer. This netting can replace the need for safety harnesses or fall restraint systems which may not be effective at the heights being worked at.  The nets are manufacturered to (BSEN 1263-1 2002) the only recognised standard of fall arrest safety nets.

WorkSafe NZ has formally recognised Safety Nets as a control for the management of fall risks.

Elenet™ System for Pallet Racking

The Elenet™ System is an alternative option to the traditional steel barrier fencing between pallet racks.   The net is attached to your exiting pallet rack, and can be installed either on one side, for pedestrian protection, or in between two established racks for protection for “push through” risks during loading or unloading operations.

It is more customisable in shape, allowing the net to wrap around other structures or obstructions e.g. columns and piping.  Another feature is that when an impact occurs the net deforms and has the capacity to return to its original shape or at worst be required to be tightened.

The Elenet™ system has been tested, to a force of 2500N (approx. 255 kg) as per the specification without damage to the mesh, or deformation of the frame or support structure.

Rack netting also has a single section variation (see images below), where a frame can be secured onto the racking steel frame and the netting is slid into the set frame.

P.C. Net pallet wraps

This is an environmentally friendly alternative to pallet shrink wrapping, and is re-usable which reduces waste.

The Net system is significantly faster than the plastic wrap system, is less prone to human error, and adapts easily to uneven shapes.

Additionally it can be released and retightened allowing access to remove items without reducing the strength of the restaint.

The netting is designed to last for multiple years and uses, however it also comes with a 12 month UV tag to help identify when it is due for an integrity assessment, as continuous UV exposue, like with any plastic item, will reduce its inherent strength.

FASET Training

Safety Action will be hosting Gaprie at our Clayton Office from the 9th to 11th of March as they deliver both their 2-day Riggers and 1 day Inspector’s course.  If you have an interest in further information, please feel to contact Evelyn on 1800 SAFENET or visit their website.
